Real Wedding: Summer & Douglas

Summer & Douglas eloped to Franschhoek, South Africa for their big day! Their wedding was simple and floral. We’ve fallen head-over-heels in love with their beautiful venue and Summer’s simply breathtaking bridal look! Congratulations to this sweet couple and have a look at some of our favorite pictures below!

Q: Best wedding planning advice for future Mrs.?

Relax and enjoy your wedding. In the end, it is really only about you two. Oh and hire a really good wedding planner! 🙂

Q: Tell us your love story!

We meet in 2000 when Doug was in the Air Force and I was in college. My college best friend introduced us. We hit it off right away and tried long distance dating but the distance and school pressures were too much. 17 years later, we reconnected on facebook and got married in Feb 2018! It may have taken us 18 years to get it right, but we finally did!

Q: How would you define the message “Dare to Love”?

Dare to Love to me means taking a leap of faith in choosing to love someone. Daring to love someone is committing to going through all the obstacles, challenges, and joys that marriage and life brings by facing them together. My parents married overseas nearly 50 years ago at age 24 without any of their family present and in the letter my father wrote to his parents describing why he and my mother decided to get married, he said “I know there are many things that I overlooked in the process of growing up, and there are many things I haven’t seen and been aware of yet, but I have learned enough to know that I don’t want to let this chance go by”. Those words have always resonate with me and when Doug came back into my life after 17 years, I knew I couldn’t let the chance of love go by again.

Q: What was the inspiration behind your wedding theme?

We eloped for our wedding! I grew up in South Africa and when Doug and I decided to get married, eloping to South Africa was the only option.

Q: What was the best/most memorable part of the day?

The most memorable part was right after the minister pronounced us husband and wife a rainbow appeared behind us!

Q: What did you love most about your #Cocomelody dress?

EVERYTHING!!! My wedding dress was perfect from top to bottom. I got so so many compliments on my dress and nobody could believe that quality of workmanship and style could be so affordable.

Q: What do you think about Cocomelody?

I have definitely recommended Cocomelody to my friends for their weddings or events. I would buy from them again for my formal gowns. The customer service was great and my wedding dress was absolutely PERFECT!!!!
