When we think of the traditional wedding cake, one thing comes to mind: frosting, and lots and lots of it. Now, everyone loves frosting, but sometimes the abundance of heavy cream can just be too much. Enter the newest trend in wedding cakes: the Naked Wedding Cake.

The Naked Wedding Cake’s main difference with the more traditional cakes is that instead of frosting the outer layer, the focus is on putting the filling between the tiers, leaving the layers exposed. Not only does this create an all-natural wedding cake look, but skipping the frosting means one great thing: lower costs due to less buttercream used. Another advantage is that naked wedding cakes also dry out faster since there is a lack of outer frosting, so your baker will need to bake it as close to your wedding day as possible, ensuring its freshness.
