Q: What was the inspiration behind your wedding theme :
We both wanted a romantic and elegant theme. When we walked into the Bell Event Centre, it instantly gave us chills. Everything we wanted came to fruition and the day was simply perfect!
Q: Tell us your love story :
We both attended Central State University, an HBCU, at different times, so we never crossed paths. I was out one summer night, with my girlfriends, in 2013. Demetrius came over, introduced himself and asked me if I’d like a drink. I said, “yes,” and ordered a Crown Royal and Cherry Coke. After he brought me the drink, he said he didn’t want to impose on girl’s night and he’d hopefully see me around again, sometime. That really intrigued me and later on that Fall, Demetrius was throwing a Homecoming party for the university’s alumni, and I attended. When I walked in the party, he came over, said hello and brought me a Crown Royal and Cherry Coke. I, secretly, lit up with a smile, because he remembered me. We exchanged numbers later on that night and arranged for a date the following day. After our initial date, we went on a date every night that week and the fairytale began. The Proposal: In 2018, Demetrius had a themed birthday party he allowed me to plan. I went all out, but little did I know, so did he. As he was thanking everyone for coming out, he began to tear up and speak so eloquently about me and our relationship. Before I knew it, he was on one knee asking me to marry him. March 17, 2018 was a beautiful day and on March 15, 2019, we wed as husband and wife.
Q: How would you define the message “Dare to Love” :
Dare to give love a try, outside of the ordinary. Our love story doesn’t fit into a conventional box, but that’s what makes us so special.
Q: The best/most memorable part of the day :
Walking down the aisle and seeing him wear his heart on his sleeve… he was a ball of waterworks, but it showed the vulnerability of his heart- it was just perfect!
Q: What did you love most about your #cocomelody! dress (es) :
I wanted my bridesmaids to be showstoppers at my wedding. When I saw the dress for them, it spoke elegance, class, sophistication, and beauty. I knew I’d found the dress for them, as soon as I laid eyes on it.
