Kara & Trey tied the knot in Pier House Resort and Spa, Key West Florida. They had a relaxed, fun, intimate beach wedding surrounded by family and friends. Listen to your heart about what you want for your big day and how you want it to feel.

Q: Any advice or tips for future Mrs.?

Listen to your heart about what you want for your big day and how you want it to feel. If you do not want a huge wedding you do not have to have a huge wedding. The most important thing is that you get to marry the person you will be with for the rest of your life, and the day should be about you two as a couple. Friends and family are important too but you and your future husband will remember this day forever and it marks the beginning of your lives together as a married couple. Take it all in, don’t worry about the details, and have fun!

Q: What was the inspiration behind your wedding theme?

My main inspiration was the idea of the reception on a catamaran in a tropical location at sunset. I wanted a fun, laid back reception on the water with the summer breeze filled with music, drinks, and cake. And that is what I got! Everything else was centered around the catamaran reception. Our ceremony was short and sweet on the beach prior to that. I also knew I wanted my toes in the sand when I got married!

Q: Tell us your love story! Where & How did he propose?

Trey and I met in college at a mutual friends’ house. He was a junior and I was a sophomore. We both had been unsuccessful in dating in college and we were both looking for a long term relationship. Our personalities just meshed so well together and after exchanging phone numbers and texting all the next day we went on our first date that week to the movies. We were poor college students so nothing extravagant. We got along so well though and everything felt so natural in the progression of our relationship. We had been living together post college for over 3 years when we started looking at engagement rings together, it was something we felt was right to do together. He did surprise me with the timing of when he gave the ring to me and proposed though, it was on Christmas Eve on the way to see his family for the holiday, just him and I. We are private people and I was glad it was just us two for that moment.

Q: How would you define the message “Dare to Love”?

Dare to take chances and let yourself get to know someone on a deep and intimate level. The risk is worth the reward!

Q: Did you enjoy the wedding planning process? Why or why not?

I did enjoy parts of the wedding planning process, I loved seeing the final look come together with my dress and veil after alterations. And I enjoyed putting together some welcome bags that I created for all the guests. However some of the parts I disliked, like dealing with all of the contracts for all the different vendors and the logistics of planning a destination wedding was challenging at times. I did have a wedding planner which helped a lot!

planning a destination wedding was challenging at times.

Q: What was the best/most memorable part of the day?

The ceremony, walking down the aisle and finally meeting up with Trey. I loved the passages the officiant chose to share, they applied perfectly to us as a couple. The second best part was the catamaran reception, everyone had a blast dancing and relaxing on the boat, and the sunset was gorgeous!

Q: What did you love most about your #CocoMelody dress (es)?

I loved all of the lace and beading, it was the perfect amount of detail for my beach wedding. I loved also how my wedding dress was still lightweight and comfortable. And it turned out great in the pictures, especially the beautiful train!

Q: What do you think about CocoMelody and the customer service?

I would recommend CocoMelody to any bride, excellent quality and customer service. I did have to get my dress altered as I believe I put in incorrect measurements for my bust, so I would recommend to all brides to order the dress custom fit but go to a salon to get measured instead of doing it yourself. I was very happy though with my dress and the price point, it was perfect!
